Why the Straight-Up System is Better than the Legacy System

Before we get started, please keep in mind:

The Straight-Up System did not start off as an exercise in the application of network theory to lawmaking. It was designed for humans to use—as something they would want to use.

It starts with a diagnosis of the problem, namely, The Big Disconnect and the Under-representation Problem. We need only ask a few simple questions:

What does ‘connected representation’ look like? It must employ delegates (we can’t all be in the same room at the same time). What, then, does it mean to be ‘well represented’ as well as ‘connected?’ Answering those questions honestly creates the Straight Up System without recourse to network theory. So, it is very impressive that when Straight-Up Democracy is analyzed through the lens of network theory, it proves to be a fluid, responsive, inclusive, efficient, naturally error-correcting, lean, mean, will of the people generating machine!
